James Murr

James spent his childhood in South Texas and loved everything it had to offer, from hunting and fishing to long hours working on the farms. He moved to College Station for Texas A&M University, where he met his wife, Layne, and they have raised their family in College Station ever since.

He grew up hunting in South Texas and the Texas Hill Country, where his family has had a ranch for many generations, ever since Adam and Henry Murr settled the country near Fort McKavett at the end of the Indian War.

James is a serial entrepreneur and has started multiple companies in College Station, primarily based around the real estate industry, and maintains 7 successful companies today. He has also developed numerous buildings and parcels of land in College Station and Bryan, TX. His landmark project is Midtown City Center in College Station, which is a 300 acre master planned development consisting 925 lots for homes, several apartment complexes, and a commercial mixed-use district. James has extensive experience with land and all the complex issues it entails.

In 2025, when Matt expressed his interest in moving to College Station and starting a land and ranch focussed company, James was all-in. He knew businesses were most successful when the founders are passionate and experienced in the field, and that is exactly what they were.

James is a family man, and is very proud of his wife and two children. His daughter Chloe is attending Mary-Hardin Baylor and excels on their soccer team, and his son, Cooper, is finishing high school at Brazos Christian and plans on playing college quarterback somewhere. They enjoy fitness, water sports, mountain sports, hunting, and the outdoors in general. They are a family of faith and give and serve in many roles.
